Geotech was looking for an innovative partner to reduce its climate footprint. They found one in HydX. “We appreciate HydX’s extensive technical competence,” says Henric Annelund. Geotech is a Swedish company manufacturing drill rigs for geotechnical field investigation for customers around the world. “Our customers use our application when they are planning the construction of buildings, tunnels or roads. In that chain, HydX plays an important role,” explains Henric Annelund, General Manager, Geotechnical drill rigs and field equipment. The company has a lot of business in Norway, where the green climate transition has led to big changes. Previously, the drill rigs were exclusively diesel-powered, but with increased sustainability requirements, Geotech needed to change its applications to meet the new tougher regulatory requirements. “Together with HydX, we have developed the next generation of drill rigs. The hybrid drill rig can also be powered with electricity, helping our customers to reduce their climate footprint and move towards fossil-free operations,” continues Annelund. “HydX was closely involved not only in choosing the hydraulic components, but also in the engineering of the drill rig. HydX is a highly valued sounding board.” HydX and Geotech have been successfully co-operating for almost fifteen years. The work on the hybrid rig took around one year – a period during which HydX played an important role, and not only as a component supplier, but also as a sounding board during the engineering of the whole rig. “HydX’s contribution was significant, offering its technical competence and assisting in problem solving, and they also were involved in the engineering work. HydX staff members not only respond rapidly and help us find solutions to the challenges we face, but they also know what’s going on in the field of hydraulics. They present what’s new in the field and open our eyes to the opportunities we have as a customer. That is something we really appreciate.”
