Technology and Innovation that Make a Difference

– in a Changing World

GodstagGodstag

Ambitious climate goals and customer demand for sustainable, efficient solutions are driving the transition towards a greener future. With the right partner, this adaptation can be seamless—and for those able to meet tomorrow’s demands, the green transition can open new business opportunities.

At HydX, we are passionate about development, innovation and smart solutions. Working in close partnership with our customers and manufacturers, we strive to find the optimal solution for every application and every client. For more than 15 years, our broad expertise and our employees’ deep technical knowledge have made us a reliable partner for customers facing new challenges. One of the most significant challenges today is the ongoing green transition.

The Green Transition – Both a Challenge and an Opportunity

One example of the changes affecting our customers is the EU Green Deal, a strategy aimed at making Europe climate-neutral by 2050, with a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. Specific targets have also been set for the transport sector, where emissions must be reduced by at least 70% by 2030 compared to 2010 levels – requiring widespread electrification.

As customer requirements evolve, more and more companies need to adapt, and here lies a large—and often untapped—opportunity. Choosing the right technology can make a significant difference, both from a sustainability and a business perspective.

Selecting the Right Components is Essential

Today, there is an increased requirement to improve the energy efficiency of hydraulic systems. For industrial hydraulics, it is about keeping the operating costs down which can be substantial in applications running continuously 24/7. For mobile machinery, the goal may be to minimise fuel consumption or reduce battery size. Often, it’s a compromise, weighing energy savings against installation costs or physical space – especially in mobile applications where space is limited. Selecting the right components is essential to achieve the optimal balance between performance and efficiency.

HydX Develops Solutions Tailored to Our Customers’ Unique Demands

One approach is to measure and record data to examine an application’s duty cycle. Doing so provides valuable insight into when and how energy is consumed, enabling the operation to be refined via the control system. By accepting slightly higher losses at certain stages to achieve better responsiveness, while reducing overall losses in the longer term, the system can be fine-tuned to balance both energy efficiency and performance.

The most significant transformation in mobile applications comes from shifting from combustion engines to electric drive systems. Depending on the machine’s specific conditions, different types of hybrid solutions can serve as a step towards full electrification. At HydX, together with our sister company, ETP, we have great expertise in designing and tailoring these systems to meet each customer’s specific  demands.

When an application is electrified, it is essential to review the hydraulic system – not only to avoid unnecessary energy losses, but also to reduce noise, especially as traditional engine sounds disappear.

We are there as an advisor and a partner for all these options, analysing each system to determine what is optimal for the particular application and duty cycle.
